The purpose of the Industrial & Cogeneration Committee is to:
- Promote exchange of information about the operation and application of gas turbines within the process and cogeneration industries.
- Cooperate with other interested groups, both within and outside of the IGTI and ASME.
- Sponsor technical sessions on process and cogeneration industries operation, application, and advancements relative to gas turbines at IGTI's annual TURBO EXPO and other meetings or conferences as agreed to by the Committee and recommended by the IGTI Board of Directors.
The Committee represents all gas turbine applications except for utility, pipeline, aircraft, marine, and vehicular. Typical of process and cogeneration industry applications are: petrochemical, paper, metals, gas and oil gathering, food chemical, textiles, etc. Applications of gas turbines within these various groups include both mechanical drive (pumps, compressors, etc.) and in-plant power generation (cogeneration).
